Chuck's Column - 02/03/08

I think all of us would agree that the multimedia ministry that has been added in recent years has made a very visible impact. It has tremendously enhanced our worship experience and made possible our production of short clips that we have aired on cable television. We have received numerous comments on the professional quality of these productions.

As you know we were unable to include in the 2008 budget requests from the Multimedia Ministry Team for additional equipment. However, we asked Glenn Murphy, who chairs the team, and Andrew Tippett, who is responsible for the excellent quality of our TV spots, to present last Wednesday night their priorities for new equipment.

We learned that for $5,000-$6,000 we could purchase some equipment that would right now make a significant impact on this ministry. The equipment would enable the team to do two things: (1) They could edit material live and streamline the process so that it significantly cuts down the many hours that it now takes to edit special productions, as well as enhancing the quality of the production. For volunteers who give significant amounts of time now for this ministry, this would enable them to work more efficiently and effectively. (2) They could project live. For example, when the children are singing in worship or in a special service, we all know how difficult it is to see them from certain parts of the sanctuary. With this equipment they could project on screen the children as they sing, giving us live close-up shots. With additional volunteers we could utilize this each Sunday.

If you would like to give to this cause, just designate your gifts to "Multimedia Ministry". I hope we can provide this for our Multimedia Ministry Team; they have become such an important part of our worship and outreach ministry.

Servants together,
Chuck
