Naomi's Notes- 03/21/04
"God of wonder, beyond our galaxy, You are holy.
The universe declares Your majesty.
Lord of heaven and earth, You are holy!"
The words and tune of this song drift into my mind this morning as I gaze through my office window. I've always loved my "new' office with the two large windows. The view of the parking lot and side of the church--including the HVAC--is not spectacular, but I do enjoy the feeling of spaciousness and of being "connected" with the world outside of the church.
Today I notice some early signs of spring. The grass is turning green, the buds on the trees are starting to emerge, more birds are fluttering about. I look forward to warmer weather, to blossoms and leaves on the trees. I can't wait to see if the birds will once again build a nest in the tree just outside my window. Or if the little chipmunk has survived the winter and will soon scurry amongst the slabs of stone.
As I notice the particularly blue sky today, I am awed by the splendor of God's creation and providence. I feel loved as I realize that God abundantly provides not one, but four colorful changes of seasons for us mortals who quickly tire of everything. And I feel relief knowing that God is in charge of keeping nature "on schedule," not me. (I already have more than enough responsibility!) Every day, the sun rises and sets because of God's power and provision for us.
I silently express my gratitude, and a sense of peace washes over me. My heart rate slows; the stress abates. I am ready anew to serve my Maker.
"Everything on earth has its own time and its own season." (Ecclesiastes 3:1 CEV)
"For the beauty of the earth....Lord of all, to Thee we raise This our hymn of grateful praise."
"All creatures of our God and King, Lift up your voice and with us sing, Allelulia!"
See you Sunday -
