Immanuel Baptist Church

Mission Work at Fleming Neon

One of Immanuel's mission projects was renovating an old grocery store into a community center in Fleming-Neon, Kentucky.

Missions

We are a mission oriented congregation giving 20 percent of our budget to mission causes. We annually conduct a free fair at West Point, Kentucky providing games and learning activities for the children. We set up tents and invite the community to free clothes and other items. We grill burgers and hot dogs and offer a free meal. We have a giant slide for the children, teach them Christian songs and share with them the story of Jesus.

We are always looking for ways to get involved in missions both near and far. In recent years we have sent a team to Ocean City, Maryland to do resort ministry and to inner city Detroit to help in a Community Center that provides summer activities for children and youth. We have several members who are involved in construction mission work and a number of people regularly involved in meeting needs through community organizations such as the Soup Kitchen, the Women’s Shelter, the Red Cross, etc. We have a group that regularly participates in Relay for Life to raise money for the fight against cancer.

We provide opportunities regularly for preschoolers, children and youth to learn and do missions. They have collected food and clothing, helped at the soup kitchen, visited the nursing home, and helped with special projects for the elderly. We are a service oriented church intent on following the example of Jesus who came not to be served, but to serve and give his life for others.

We have a Missions and Evangelism Ministry Team that helps to provide leadership and coordination to our congregational mission education and participation.
