Each summer, Immanuel hosts a Musical Day Camp Production for the Frankfort community. All children receive a part.
Immanuel's Handbell Choir plays not only for services, but also in nursing homes around Frankfort.
Music Ministry
At Immanuel, our Music Ministries are committed to providing a comprehensive church music program of training and presentation. We strive to provide various musical opportunities in this church setting that will:
- enrich the individual lives of participants
- enrich the corporate worship experiences of the entire congregation
- reach out to the Frankfort community
We encourage church musicians of all ages to grow spiritually and musically, mentally and emotionally as they develop and use their God-given musical talents. Our striving for excellence reflects our imaging of God as being worthy of our very best efforts.
In addition, we have a commitment to reach out to and include "non-musicians" and those with limited musical skills in musical opportunities. We believe that everyone has innate musical talents that can be used to worship and serve the Lord.
In other words, there is a place for you in our music ministries!
Current Musical Opportunities:
- Preschool Choir (ages 3 – K)
- Meets Wednesdays 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm August thru May
- Music Makers Choir (grades 1 – 3)
- Meets most Wednesdays 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm August thru May
- Young Musicians Choir (grades 4 – 6)
- Meets most Wednesdays 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm August thru May
- Youth Choir (grades 7 – 12)
- Currently, this group has stopped meeting for a while, but we’re seriously considering re-grouping soon. If you’re interested in meeting regularly for rehearsals, please contact Dr. Walker asap. In the meantime, youth solos, duets, etc. are needed to enhance our worship services. See Dr. Walker to volunteer
- Sanctuary Choir (adults, including college age)
- Meets most Wednesdays 7:30 pm – 8:45 pm year-round
- Women's Ensemble (adults, openings as needed for blend)
- Meets Wednesdays 9:00 – 10:00 am year-round
- Handbell Choir (adults/youth, limited spaces)
- Meets most Thursdays 6:30 – 7:30 pm, semester commitments
- Rainbow Ringers (children/preschoolers)
- (uses Kristal Bell Method handbell ringing)
- Meets most Wednesdays 5:30 – 6:00 pm, during the school year
- This group is under the direction of Rev. Lisa Wood, our Children's Pastor. See Children's Ministries section for further details.
- Instrumental Ensemble (youth/adult with min. 3-month’s experience)
- Currently this group is not meeting…but we are interested in reorganizing! If you play an instrument and think you could commit to weekly rehearsal with a group, please let us know!
Periodic Musical Opportunities
- Musical Day Camp Production
- When: Annually in mid-July (registration begins each June)
- Annually since 1995, we’ve presented these colorful children’s musical dramas with great success. Production week involves a 5-day process of rehearsals in a day camp setting. Two performances are presented the following weekend.
- Music Reading 101 and Conducting 101
- When: Usually each Spring
- These 1-hour courses (3 sessions total) are offered to introduce a basic understanding of musical notation and song leading. Content and scheduling are tailored according to the needs of those who are interested.
