Senior Adult Ministry
Our Senior Adult ministry is anchored by the X.Y.Z. Club which consists of members 55 years and up. Their purpose is to: a. provide resources and activities that enhance individual spiritual enrichment, b. to provide opportunities for volunteer service involvement that adds meaning to life and increases self esteem, while at the same time, assists in meeting care needs of the group, the church family, and the community, and c. to provide social and cultural opportunities to enhance the quality of life of members and their guests.
The Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month for a potluck luncheon, followed by a report time by club officers. Guest speakers provide a program on a variety of topics of interests to seniors and sometimes guest musicians perform. The group participates in a variety of day trips to restaurants and points of interest in central Kentucky as well as in a variety of mission/outreach ministries which includes Immanuel’s West Point Mission, the Community Food Pantry, the Hope Center in Lexington, etc. Several members of the group visit regularly in the nursing homes and in the homes of homebound friends.
The Senior Adults are involved in all areas of church life including Sunday School, Special Focus classes and Bible Studies, Children and Youth Ministry, the Music Ministry, Exercise Class, the Deacon Ministry, and serve on various Ministry Teams.
